What to put on a Canadian invoice
If you are registered for GST/HST, invoices of $100 or more must show your business name, GST/HST registration number, the date, the customer, a description of what you sold, the amount and the tax charged (or the rate). Invoices of $500 or more need the customer's name and the payment terms too.
- Number every invoice in order (INV-1001, INV-1002...).
- Show taxes on their own lines, not buried in the price.
- Put clear payment terms and how to pay (e-Transfer, cheque, card).
Tips to get paid faster
Send invoices the day the work is done, set a due date of 15 or 30 days, and follow up the day after it is late. Businesses that add a Pay now link get paid days sooner, which OENOD invoices do for you.
Questions people ask
Is the invoice maker free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark. Download as many PDFs as you need.
Is my invoice data private?
It never leaves your browser. We save a draft on your own device so you can come back to it; nothing is sent to OENOD.
How do I save the invoice as a PDF?
Press Download PDF / Print and choose "Save as PDF" as the printer. On a phone, use Share then Save to Files.
Do I have to charge GST/HST?
Once your taxable sales pass $30,000 in four quarters in a row you must register and charge it. Below that you can still register voluntarily.
Can I send invoices with online payment?
Yes, with OENOD. Invoices go out by email with a Pay now button, reminders go out automatically and payments land in your accounting. Try it free.
